Job Purpose:

Support Managed Security product portfolio. Includes installation, configuration and troubleshooting Managed Security services products. Capacity planning, management and reporting on the same platform. To ensure client satisfaction and service delivery to industry best practice.

Minimum Requirements of Job


  • Matric/Grade 12 or Equivalent
  • BSc IT/ Computer Science /Engineering Degree/ Diploma
  • ITIL V3 Foundation
  • Cisco CCNA
  • Cisco CCNP
  • Fortinet NSE 4
  • Palo Alto (PCNSE)
  • Cisco CCIE


  • A minimum of 6 years in the ICT sector of which 4 years must have been spent in the Telco environment (Desirable)
    4-7 years technical experience working with Cisco technologies, Firewalls, Routing and switching is required.
    Managed services experience an advantage.
    Report writing and presentation skills experience are required
    Working in a network security Role with 4 years€™ experience in any three of the below technologies. (Fortigate, Proxy, Cisco firewall, Palo Alto, Check Point, Cisco ACS, Cisco IOS Routing and Switching) (Essential)
  • 2 years€™ experience in Report writing and presentation skills are required (Essential)
  • 2 years€™ experience in dealing with cross-functional work groups (Desirable)

Service Operations

  • Manage the assurance of Managed Security services through / by:
    Efficient Fault Management €“ follow best practice Incident handling
    Ensuring a high Resolution Efficiency for repeat incidents
    Maintaining Network Performance as per Engineering designs
    Complying with all Process, Patch Management, Change Process, etc.
    Capacity Management €“ managing capacity below critical threshold
  • Provide yearly inputs for process reviews
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports in order to measure compliance to SLA and MTTR for Managed security services.
  • Maintain up to date firmware, software and H/W versions for Managed platforms
  • Evaluates Managed Security system performance utilizing software and hardware monitoring tools and make recommendation where applicable

Service Delivery

  • Configuration and Support of Cisco ASA firewalls with Firepower, Fortigate firewalls and Web proxy, Palo Alto firewalls, checkpoint, Cisco ISE, Cisco ACS, Reverse Proxy and IPS/IDS.
  • Provide high level troubleshooting and faults finding on faults incidents for Managed Security technologies and network devices.
  • Ability to Analyse SIEM reports and provide advice, mitigation requirements.
  • Responsible for firmware upgrades, backups and restore of systems configurations.
  • In-depth understanding of endpoint security, governance policies, processes, industry best practises, Application Firewalls and vulnerability management.
  • Provide 2nd / 3rd Level support for technical support and escalation for security related issues, incidents and initiatives.
  • Have sufficient networking experience to tightly cooperate with communications network team engineers to deliver the solutions on a wide scale covering all the networking aspects.
  • Support and trouble-shooting of network security devices and systems delivered by the project to the client during transition/handover period. That includes firewalls, intrusion detection systems, virtual private networks (VPN), Web Proxy, security device management platforms, etc.
  • Create support documentation for the delivered infrastructure. Raising change records and executing activity while adhering to client€™s/Liquid Telecom processes and procedures.
  • Support and trouble-shooting of network security devices and systems delivered by the project to the client during transition/handover period. That includes firewalls, intrusion detection systems, virtual private networks (VPN), Web Proxy, security device management platforms, etc.
  • Implementing and monitoring security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information.
  • Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and propositions for further system security enhancement.
  • Sound Routing and switching background including dynamic routing technologies. (Technologies, Cisco IOS, ASR)

Customer Incident Escalations Management

  • Co-ordinate with the respective internal departments and manage the escalation to resolution speedily.
  • Escalate to internal department management to ensure that the customer issue is resolved timeously.
  • Provide progressive and accurate updates to ESD about logged incidents to ensure feedback is given to the customer.
  • Escalate to vendors/3rd party contractors until the resolution of incidents or platform issues.
  • Ensure that all and any arising Action Plans that may arise from the customer meetings are completed within the timeframes committed to customer to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Provide inputs to Incident Reports and RCA€™s to ensure that accurate information is provided to the customer once incidents are resolved.
  • Participate and assist in resolving Critical Situation/Major Events in the Network to ensure speedy resolution of queries.

Innovation/Continuous Improvement Program

  • Participate and provide inputs during yearly review of system, process and procedure efficiencies for Managed Security team to improve services and customer satisfaction.
  • Implement Managed Security services Service Improvement Programs.
  • Collaborate with IT to develop reports to drive efficiencies across various departments internally to improve service delivery and operations.
  • Participation and engagement with Engineering department to advise and recommend best practices and operational efficiencies.
